Beautiful Pearls

Jenny was a bright-eyed, pretty five-year-old girl.

One day when she and her mother were checking out at the grocery store, Jenny saw a plastic pearl necklace priced at $2.50. How she wanted that necklace, and when she asked her mother if she would buy it for her, her mother said, "Well, it is a pretty necklace, but it costs an awful lot of money. I'll tell you what. I'll buy you the necklace, and when we get home we can make up a list of chores that you can do to pay for the necklace.

And don't forget that for your birthday Grandma just might give you a whole dollar bill, too. Okay?" Jenny agreed, and her mother bought the pearl necklace for her.

Jenny worked on her chores very hard every day, and sure enough, her grandma gave her a brand new dollar bill for her birthday. Soon
Jenny had paid off the pearls. How Jenny loved those pearls. She wore them everywhere to kindergarten, bed and when she went out with her mother to run errands.

The only time she didn't wear them was in the shower. Her mother had told her that they would turn her neck green!

Now Jenny had a very loving daddy. When Jenny went to bed, he would get up from his favorite chair every night and read Jenny her favorite story.

One night when he finished the story, he said, "Jenny, do you love me?"

"Oh yes, Daddy, you know I love you," the little girl said.

"Well, then, give me your pearls."

"Oh! Daddy, not my pearls!" Jenny said. "But you can have Rosy, my favorite doll. Remember her? You gave her to me last year for my birthday. And you can have her tea party outfit, too. Okay?"

"Oh no, darling, that's okay." Her father brushed her cheek with a kiss. "Good night, little one."

A week later, her father once again asked Jenny after her story, "Do you love me?"

"Oh yes, Daddy, you know I love you."

"Well, then, give me your pearls."

"Oh, Daddy, not my pearls! But you can have Ribbons, my toy horse. Do you remember her? She's my favorite. Her hair is so soft, and you can play with it and braid it and everything. You can have Ribbons if you want her, "Daddy," the little girl said to her father.

"No, that's okay," her father said and brushed her cheek again with a kiss. God bless you, little one. Sweet dreams."

Several days later, when Jenny's father came in to read her a story, Jenny was sitting on her bed and her lip was trembling. " Here, Daddy," she said, and held out her hand. She opened it and her beloved pearl necklace was inside. She let it slip into her father's hand.

With one hand her father held the plastic pearls and the other he pulled out of his pocket a blue velvet box. Inside of the box were real, genuine, beautiful pearls. He had had them all along. He was waiting for Jenny to give up the cheap stuff so he could give her the real thing.

So it is with GOD. He is waiting for us to give up the cheap things in our lives so he can give us beautiful treasure.

Isn't God good?

This made me think about the things I hold on to and wonder what God wants to give me in its place.

Want Beautiful Pearls?
Give up cheap things in life...

Are There Angels?

It is said there are Angels
In Heaven above
And they shine with the light
Of an inner love

Of these things
I had not a clue
But that was
Before I found you

For in you I've found
A love that is so right
It shines all around
With the brightest of light

It comes from somewhere
So deep within
That it has no beginning
And knows no end

Your love is a light
That brightens each day
Of all of the people
You see on your way

Where ever you go
Or whatever you do
All see the love
That you have inside you

That God sent you here
To a place where you'd be
Sharing such love
With someone like me

Is proof for me
That angels exist
And are filled with a love
That no man could resist

I thank God each day
For finding the time
For looking down on me
And making you mine

So yes there are Angels
In heaven above
I know because God
Sent me one to love

Tricks for all types of make-up

Make-Up Tricks

* For LARGER EYES try lining the inner upper and lower eyelids with a white eye pencil. * Applying BLUSH on the "apples of the cheeks" makes the face look wider.

* Keep your liquid FOUNDATION in the refridgerator if it\'s not used on a daily basis.

* Green eyeshadows used on eyes will draw attention to any under eye DARK CIRCLES.

* Try a navy eyeliner on BROWN EYES.

The following can contribute to SKIN BREAKOUTS (blemishes):
Frequent travel--ie flight attendants.
Dipping fingers into cosmetics--bacteria alert!
Using the other person\'s cosmetics.
Neglecting to frequently wash your personal make-up sponges and brushes.
Fried foods and chocolate.
Hormonal changes--adolesence or pregnancy.
Men shaving too often.
Using \"old\" cosmetics.
Using moisturizers that are too heavy for your skin type.
A poor skin care regimen.

* Try a BACK FACIAL. (Especially if you are prone to blemishes/acne on your back).
* Try THE DRY SPONGE for the fight against cellulite and a SLIMMER LOOKING BODY.
* If your SKIN IS OILY, try using a blotting powder instead of a pressed powder.
* Warmed up olive oil is very nourishing for the NAIL CUTICLES.
* Avoid waterproof mascaras, whenever possible, as they are drying to the LASHES. Try a waterproof eyeliner to line the eyes and a brow gel on your lashes. How about lash tinting?
* Using a toothbrush gently brush your LIPS every night with a mild facial scrub. Not only does this method help with the dryness but it also stimulates the blood flow on the lips for a more natural healthy lip colour.

Decision making

Decision making

Please read it as it show's our very own Profesional Life.

Really a GOOD ONE...

A group of children were playing near two railway tracks, one still in use while the other disused. Only one child played on the disused track, the rest on the operational track.

The train is coming, and you are just beside the track interchange. You can make the train change its course to the disused track and save most of the kids. However, that would also mean the lone child playing by the disused track would be sacrificed. Or would you rather let the train go its way?

Let's take a pause to think what kind of decision we could make................

..
...
..

scroll down further

Most people might choose to divert the course of the train, and sacrifice only one child. You might think the same way, I guess. Exactly, I thought the same way initially because to save most of the children at the expense of only one child was rational decision most people would make, morally and emotionally. But, have you ever thought that the child choosing to play on the disused track had in fact made the right decision to play at a safe place?

Nevertheless, he had to be sacrificed because of his ignorant friends who chose to play where the danger was. This kind of dilemma happens around us everyday. In the office, community, in politics and especially in a democratic society, the minority is often sacrificed for the interest of the majority, no matter how foolish or ignorant the majority are, and how farsighted and knowledgeable the minority are. The child who chose not to play with the rest on the operational track was sidelined. And in the case he was sacrificed, no one would shed a tear for him.

The great critic Leo Velski Julian who told the story said he would not try to change the course of the train because he believed that the kids playing on the operational track should have known very well that track was still in use, and that they should have run away if they heard the train's sirens. If the train was diverted, that lone child would definitely die because he never thought the train could come over to that track! Moreover, that track was not in use probably because it was not safe. If the train was diverted to the track, we could put the lives of all passengers on board at stake! And in your attempt to save a few kids by sacrificing one child, you might end up sacrificing hundreds of people to save these few kids.

While we are all aware that life is full of tough decisions that need to be made, we may not realize that hasty decisions may not always be the right one.

"Remember that what's right isn't always popular... and what's popular isn't always right."

Everybody makes mistakes; that's why they put erasers on pencils.

How to become a successful businessman

Last week, a good friend -- Ajay Sanghani, the CEO of ITvidya.com -- invited me to an idea camp for entrepreneurs at IILM, a business school in Gurgaon. Venture capitalists Alok Mittal and Sanjay Bhargava chaired the camp, which was organised by Sanghani's company.

At the camp, I asked several entrepreneurs to share their initial struggles and success stories. They spoke with passion, and I learnt a few lessons:

Believe in yourself

Being an entrepreneur is a lot more risky than the conventional job routine. There is no regular salary; you have to find customers on your own. Marketing your product/service and financing the project are also of concern. I noticed that most entrepreneurs use a combination of due diligence and gut instincts while evaluating their product/service. They are good at spotting a need in the market and then backing themselves up to believe that their idea can fill that void.

Lesson one -- Believe in your idea. Never underestimate what you can do. You may surprise yourself.

Hire the right people

Most entrepreneurs highlighted this as the toughest aspect of building a business. Sanjay Bhargava, who co-founded Paypal, recommended entrepreneurs to bring in people who are really good at what they do and also to focus on ensuring the team members get along with each other.

Some entrepreneurs confessed they made the initial mistake of hiring friends and people they liked, but soon realised that friends were not always the best employees.

Lesson two -- Build your team with people possessing complementary skills, not 'yes men' who are always showering praise. You need employees, partners and mentors you trust, who will give you honest feedback and take your company to the next level.

Be money wise

While some entrepreneurs went in for conventional sources of funding from a venture capitalist or banks, etc, quite a few started out with their savings or by borrowing money from friends and family. Most entrepreneurs said they focused on increasing efficiency and optimising costs and overheads. One entrepreneur shared that he consciously stayed away from non-essentials like an extravagant office, equipments, etc. The focus was on superior execution and high quality service.

Lesson three -- It's tempting to dream of a corner office, a pool table and expensive chairs, but give it some time. Start small and start efficient. Being better is more important than being bigger.

Concentrate on the message

"As a small business, most of our marketing is word-of-mouth. Our clients appreciate the kind of work we do and our reputation for delivering results," said Vidhanshu Bansal, founder of an information-technology company called Pixel Webtech.

Most entrepreneurs said that in the early days, their tendency was to focus on sales activities and as they grew, they started looking at various marketing initiatives, as that is the cement that gels customers, vendors and employees together. Their strategy kept changing, depending on what worked -- direct mailers, e-mail marketing, presentations at seminars, etc.

Lesson four -- Marketing a start-up business is a 24/7 activity and you need to pay attention to the message you're sending out to existing and prospective clients. Your message has to be tailored to meet the customer's expectations.

Keep the team motivated

Do not indulge in fault-finding or blame games. That was a clear message from most entrepreneurs. Pigeonholing a particular member of the team may spread negative vibes within the team and cost you time and quality. Celebrating every small success and appreciating team members will build a sense of camaraderie.

Lesson five -- Be a coach, rather than the star player. Appreciate and acknowledge the positive behaviours of team members so that the behaviours turn into consistent practices.

Make mistakes

"If you ain't a little bit scared, you ain't driving fast enough," said Deepak Wadhwa, another entrepreneur. Most entrepreneurs agreed. Give your people the license to fail. It's ok to make a mistake as long as they are succeeding 9 out of 10 times, and making sure that they don't repeat those mistakes in the future.

Lesson six -- The worst mistake is the one that gets repeated. Create a culture of learning and experimentation right at the start of the business. This will become a powerful value with the growth of the business.

Be passionate

Most entrepreneurs accepted that the rewards of being an entrepreneur can be terrific but they were also of the opinion that there is no 'secret sauce.' There are a lot of magazines, self-help books and biographies of successful entrepreneurs that one can read, but at the end of the day, it's about execution. What you really need is to be passionate about your work.

Lesson seven -- If you are doing something and the day flies by, if you are surrounded with people you like to work with, then you have most of the ingredients for entrepreneurial success.

Tips on managing your mobile speed

Tips on managing your mobile speed

Managing any budget requires careful planning and monitoring. The guide “manage your mobile spend is designed to help make your job as easy as possible, with some useful hints to help you ensure youre in control of your spend.

1. Consider pre-paid
If you are concerned about how much you will spend on your mobile, are not sure what exactly your needs are, and do not want to sign a long-term contract, consider the pre-paid option first.
Getting a pre-paid first will help you understand how much youll use your mobile. You can always change to a plan at a later date, and your experience using a pre-paid can provide you with useful information to help you evaluate what type of plan would match your needs. Note that some pre-paid plans tie you down for a minimum period of time. This may mean you can benefit from cheaper call costs, but be aware that if you leave before the specified time, you pay a penalty. Look for details in the terms and conditions. You may see the phrase “SIM unlock fees. Also be aware that many pre-paid phone cards have an expiry date “ you use them until all your credit is used, or until the card expires (whichever occurs first).

2. Choose a plan to suit you
whether you opt for a pre-paid or post-paid contract, youll find theres a huge choice of options available to suit many different needs. The following points will help you choose one to suit YOU.

a) Cost of calls. Going for the plan with the lowest basic call costs may not necessarily be the best or cheapest option for you “ itll also depend on how much you use other services, such as SMS, voicemail, etc. If you use SMS more than voice, you might find, for example, and that there is a plan which charges slightly more for voice, but less for SMS “ providing a cheaper service for you overall.

Its also worth taking the time to consider when you use the phone, and whether you can benefit from plans which allow you free or cheaper calls at certain times of day, or to certain people.

If you use the phone a reasonable amount, the newer “capped deals are also well worth considering. (Note: as with any other offer, ensure you are clear on any fair use policies and exclusions that apply.)

b) Select a service that allows you to check your mobile credit
Some mobile companies have options to help you keep track of, and manage, your spend “ examples include:

Spend alerts - you get a message to let you know if youve reached a certain “spend within a given time period (e.g. a month). Applies to post-paid contracts.

Free call number to check account balance. (Applies to pre-paids and post-paid contracts)

Call barring - keep your bill down by limiting the numbers called from your phone by using call barring. For example, you might want to bar international calls, or calls to premium rate numbers. Some carriers also allow you to preset certain numbers to allow your phone to be used to call only certain numbers “ talk to your carrier about the options.

c) Consider the cost of the whole package. Be wary of phrases such as “Free, “costs zero dollars - is it really free, or are you paying for it somewhere else? If you see the words “conditions apply, read what conditions apply “ the offer may not sound so tempting once you understand what it excludes. Remember: If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

3. Stop others using your mobile phone
Minimize the risk of losing your phone and/or someone using it without your permission by:

Treating your phone as you would any valuable item; even if you got your handset as a “$0 upfront deal, this does not reflect its true cost. Handsets are expensive: they can cost more than $1000.

· Never leave your mobile in the car;

· Keep your mobile on you - never put it down in a public place or leave it unattended;

· Switch to vibrate mode in circumstances where a ring tone might attract the attention of a thief;

· Make use of your mobile's security features to stop others “borrowing your phone (e.g. PINs, SIM locks, code locks “ see your user guide for details);

· Limit the amount of damage someone can cause by borrowing your phone without permission by utilizing call barring (see above);

· Dont assume your phone is covered in your home contents insurance “ check, and consider insuring it separately, if necessary. Remember that even if you got the phone for “$0 upfront, this doesnt mean it was free “ it means the cost was absorbed in the overall contract price. You may not be able to get a replacement phone for $0 upfront.

Reducing your phones appeal to thieves, and assist in its recovery if it is lost or stolen, by:

· Notifying your network carrier AND the police immediately in the event of loss or theft;

· Engraving your initials and driving license number on the phone;

· Recording details of your phone, including its make, model and its International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, and keeping the details in a safe place. The IMEI number is a 15 digit number independent of your phone number, and is usually written underneath the battery or on the back of the handset. You can also find your IMEI number by dialing *#06# on your mobile handset. Your carrier can use this number to block your phone from all networks once you report the phone lost or stolen, rendering it useless to any thief.

4. Dont sign a contract for someone else unless youre prepared to pay all their bills
Remember that whoever signs a contract is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the terms and conditions of the contract are met. That means if you sign a contract for a friend (or child), and they dont pay their bills, its YOU who must cover the costs.

So unless youre completely happy to cover someone elses costs, dont sign a contract for them. Help them choose an appropriate pre-paid service instead.

5. Other tips to save you money
Voicemail. If you have a voicemail service, ensure youre clear what it costs. It may be included free as part of your package, or you may be charged when you listen to your messages. If this is the case, clear your voice mail quickly: every time you re-listen to old messages its costing you.

SMS. SMS messages are usually charged at a flat rate per message of up to 160
characters. If your phone allows you to write a single message over 160 characters, be aware that youll get charged for an additional SMS. (So an SMS with 161 characters will cost you twice as much as 160 characters.)

Voting. Ensure you understand the cost of calls or SMS when entering competitions/voting, etc. These are usually premium services and attract higher charges than your usual SMS or phone call.

Cost calculations & premium rate services. Be aware that there are various ways you can be charged for the services you choose to use. For example, SMS may be charged at a flat rate ($X per SMS sent); call charges may be calculated on a time-used basis ($X per minute); and some newer content services* may be charged on a subscription basis ($X/week), or on a cost per message received basis ($X each time you receive a message). Before signing up for any service, make sure you understand how the charging works: how much it costs, how often and what the total cost to you will be. And should you choose to subscribe, take note of how to cancel your subscription at the time you sign up “ while its front of mind.

(*Egs of content services include: ring tones, horoscopes, news & sports updates)

Call or SMS? Consider whether it might be cheaper on occasions to call someone rather than SMS them. Or visa-versa.

Pre-paid credit. If using a pre-paid, make sure you know if and when the credit expires, and whether you can extend the credit period by “topping-up/re-charging the card.

6. A problem shared is a problem halved
If you are having any financial or contractual problems, contact your carrier. It is not in their interest to have customers in financial difficulty any more than it is in yours. Discuss with your carrier any advice they have to help control your spend before the problem becomes too big.
